Parents trust their doctors when they prescribe drugs to their children, but parents, please be aware. In a study published by the journal Pediatrics, researcher Thomas Moore examined nearly 600,000 adverse drug reactions reported to the FDA. The authors reported 2 staggering facts. First, of all the drugs prescribed to infants, 17 were on the hit list and were responsible for 54% of serious or fatal adverse drug reactions. The other alarming statistic was that from 1998 to 2000 the drug related deaths in infants increased nearly 75%!
